Day out with Daddy

This past Saturday was my mom's annual Cookie Day. Every year she says she's not going to do it again...but we really know she's going to keep doing it. What would Christmas be without Mrs. Lee's cookies??

At any rate, I'm still waiting for my brother to upload those pics, but in the meantime, Jay and Justin had a boys' day out while Brandon had to kick it with the girls. Jay and Justin went to Union Square to see the holiday sights. Here's what happened:

It turned out to be Santa Con in Union Square. We're not sure just how confused Justin was to see all the Santas...

A side trip to Beard Papa's of course!

6 months

I took Brandon in for his 6 month check-up and shots today. I thought for sure he would be over 20 lbs, but he just squeaked under. He was a trooper for his shots and was pretty perky until the early afternoon when it started to catch up with him. He's down for another nap now and I'm hoping I can actually get something done around the house right now...fingers crossed! Here are his stats:

Weight: 19 lb, 13 oz (85%)
HC: 17.5" (78%)
Height: 27" (60%)

And for those keeping track at home, here are Justin's 6 month stats:

Weight: 18 lb, 7 oz (76%)
HC: 17.6" (84%)
Height: 26.5" (65%)

The brothers are neck in neck with Brandon having a slight edge in the stockniness department ;)

Disneyland

We took the boys to Disneyland a couple of weekends ago so that we could see the new Cars Land at California Adventure. I never imagined how tiring a family vacation could be. Suffice to say that sleeping in the same room with one big Wong boy who snores, one little Wong boy who is afraid of the dark, and the littlest Wong boy who wasn't sleeping right because we were dragging him all over Disneyland...isn't a Mommy's idea of a restful vacation!

Oh well, the things we do for our kids. Justin had a GREAT time! Although we couldn't go on alot of rides because of aforementioned scared-of-the-dark situation, we went on lots of other rides...mainly ones that went in circles like Dumbo and AstroOrbiters and Tipping Tractors. And since Daddy can't handle rides that go in circles, guess who had to go on all of those?? Again, the things we do for our kids...

We also embarked on the great Find-the-Nearest-Bathroom scavenger hunt throughout the parks. Hazards of having a somewhat freshly potty trained kid. But no accidents and we only had to get out of line once ;)

All in all, a great time was had by all at the Happiest Place on Earth. Of course, I needed a vacation from our vacation, but nothing a couple of trips to Starbucks couldn't help ;) Until next year!

Daddy and Justin went on Buzz Lightyear without me!
Hamming it up on Autopia
Okay I was wrong, Daddy did brave the Dumbo ride
We didn't take too many pictures, so we had to prove we were actually at Disneyland!
Visting Mickey's Toon Town
The end of the day. Justin LOVED riding in the double stroller.
Poor Brandon got dragged all over the parks.
Close-up by Justin, the photographer
Justin was really good at keeping Brandon entertained at the hotel
Justin capturing daily life
In line at the Radiator Springs Racers (Mommy was in line getting a Fast Pass!)
Cars Land was all decorated for the holidays!
With Red, the Fire Truck
With Lightning McQueen

And Tow Mater. Justin's mind was officially blown!

5 months

Brandon is 5 months now and getting chubbier by the day! We're going to have to start him on real food soon I think. We've let him suck on pieces of fruit lately and he seems to love it! Between that and sucking down 8.5 oz of milk at a time...sheesh - it's time to get this kid some real food! Stay tuned for that post...!

Justin Turns 4!

I still can't believe that Justin is 4 years old now! He's like an actual little boy - not a baby or toddler anymore *sniff* We almost weren't going to have a birthday party for him since we were trying to stay low key as long as possible. Of course, true to Wong form, a "small" gathering of family and close friends turned into a party for 30 people at our house! We'll think of it as a warm-up for Thanksgiving...

The theme was Disney Cars and Mommy had to make sure we had all the right elements since Justin was very particular about what we needed - balloons, cake, and decorations. Check. Check. Check. A great time was had by all...well except maybe Brandon. He was largely ignored on this day as Mommy kept passing him off so she could run and get things organized and keep the big kids from getting hurt as they roughhoused.

On Justin's actual birthday, Daddy bought him a special dinnertime treat of...coconuts! Don't ask. Justin's had it in his head for a while that he wanted to eat/drink a coconut, so we obliged. They weren't as good as the 30 cent coconuts in Thailand, but they did the trick ;)

Quiet reading time before the party started

Random Silliness

Is it me or do all parents like to imagine what their kids are thinking about? I always seem to have a running commentary in my head about what Brandon is thinking...
Uh, Uncle Ron, you don't mind if I kind of get closer to Alyssa, do you? She sure is pretty...

Brandon: GODZILLA!!!! HELP!!! (I can't help it, this one cracks me up. Justin was trying to tickle Brandon before bathtime)

I guess I should humor Mommy and Daddy as they try to take the obligatory bathtime picture. At least they preserved my modesty...
I'm really not amused.
Seriously, can't a baby take a bath in peace?

The Boys

In my previous post I mentioned that we let Brandon try some watermelon. Lately the kid is always staring at us and drooling whenever we eat. Too bad he still has a couple of months to go before we let him in on the good stuff. In the meantime, Mommy decided to let the poor kid try some real food ;)

In a unrelated activity other than I'm too lazy to make another post, Justin decided he wanted to "read" a book to Brandon. I'm pretty sure Brandon only wanted to eat the book, but he listened dutifully like a good little brother.

Justin has memorized this book, but the trippy thing is that he's starting to be able to sound out words. Well, he's trying at least. Amazing for a kid who didn't talk for the first two years! :)

4 months

I took Brandon in for his 4 month check-up today. Here are the much awaited stats:

Weight: 16 lb, 14 oz (83%)
Length: 26" (84%)
Head Circumference: 17" (73%)

And for those keeping score, here are Justin's 4 month stats:

Weight: 16 lb, 3.5 oz (85%)
Length: 26" (89 %)
Head Circumference: 17.25" (91%)

I'm not sure why the percentiles are so different considering the measurements are so close...has the average baby gotten bigger in the past 4 years? Interesting. Anyways, Brandon was all smiles and giggles for the doctor. He got four shots today - poor thing. But he braved through them and promptly fell asleep in the car.

Next week, Justin goes in for his 4 year check-up. The doctor says he's due for shots too-yikes!

Shh! Don't tell! We let Brandon try some watermelon. He wasn't too impressed :)

Brandon 16-17 weeks

Just some more pics of the littlest Wong. He's getting pretty good at holding his head up and he's getting close to rolling over. We also noticed that he's a lot more smiley and giggly than Justin was...perhaps something to do with being the second child and trying to get people's attention :)
